Expired ID Cards Can Be Used for the Upcoming Election

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has decided to allow Khmer identity cards that are expired as of 2022 and 2023 as a valid form of ID for the upcoming general election. The decision was made at the request of the Minister of Interior, Sar Kheng.

Article 3 of the sub-decree states: "The new model of Khmer Nationality ID card, if it has expired in 2022 or 2023, will be permitted for use in the 7th National Assembly election until the date of the official announcement of the election results”.

The 7th National Assembly Election in Cambodia will be held on July 23, 2023 from 7 am to 3 pm, with the participation of 18 political parties.
